Bognor Regis Bowls Club

Ladies Captains' Report 2022

Well what a great season we had this year with wonderful weather.

The ladies had an exceptional season finishing 2nd in the Game Set and Match league, only two points behind the winners, Worthing Pavilion. We were due to play Worthing Pavilion in our final game which unfortunately was rained off. Would you believe it after the amount of dry weather we had had. So we shared the points which secured us 2nd place. I believe this is the highest position Bognor Ladies have achieved in the league. Well done ladies.

We had a few friendly games against other non league teams in which a number of our new lady members played. A few additional friendly matches were added which we all thoroughly enjoyed.

I would like to congratulate all members who took part in the competitions and well done to Louise Saunders, our new ladies champion. I am very pleased that she is taking part next season in the County Champion of Champions competition and wish her every success. The ladies competitions have been poorly supported in recent years and it was great to see so many ladies finals being played.

Congratulations to all those players who took part in the BML leagues and well done to both the Red and Blue teams on gaining promotion to the 1st Division. Also congratulations to the men’s A team on their promotion to Division 1, a great achievement.

Finally I would like to thank the ladies committee for their help and support this season. Also the Management committee for keeping the club running efficiently. The clubhouse committee have done a fantastic job in arranging special evenings and the jubilee celebration day was fantastic.

We have a new captain next season, Sheila, and a few new ladies who have not been on the committee before. I hope you all have an enjoyable and successful time.

We have a lot to look forward to next season as it is our Centenary Year with lots of special celebratory games.
