HW Holidays are going to Potters

15th till 19th December 2008

Bridge PlayersA Grand week was had at Potters 5* Leisure Resort by 36 keen bridge and bowls players when we all met at Potters for a very festive Christmas break.

The bridge room was set up in a quiet area overlooking the Champsionship rink, which was not being used, with ample refreshment to suite all tastes. Play proved very satis-factory with deals being won or lost and as per the norm partners blaming one another for the lack of success once the positions had been placed on the notice board, but even if we had played not to our liking the night before we were there again the next night eager to prove our worth once again.

Bowls PlayersBowling was held every morning on a round robin basis so everyone had a fair chance of winning or losing and it was great to notice how the very new players improved as the days progressed. Hopefully they will be keen enough to think about taking up bowls on a permenant basis. The two hours went very quickly amidst lots of laughter and banter and we were all keen to get to the bar to quence our thirst prior to lunch.

Afternoons were spent either playing bridge or other leisurely activities , like shopping in Lowestoft or Great Yarmouth, walking the grounds or perhaps even swimming in the pool. The very energentic ones went back to the chalet to watch the snooker on the TV or catch up on some sleep!

HW Holidays Bowling GroupThe accommodation, as is well known by everyone who has been to Potters , is excellent and nowhere too far away from the hubbub of entertainment.

Food was difficult to resist and those of us who didn't play bridge in the evenings tried to jig around to the music before settling down to watch the fabulous entertainment that was presented to us every night.

Friday morning came all too quickly and with fond farewells we left Potters all the better for having made new friends or caught up with old ones.

Look forward to seeing some of you in 2009.

MANOR HOUSE HOTEL 2ND JUNE - 6 JUNE 2008

Manor House HotelOn Monday 2nd June, a good mixture of bridge, bowls and golf players arrived at the Manor House Hotel to take part and enjoy the activities.

We met up at lunch and having all eaten rather well of the selection of fine food went to our rooms to settle in.

The afternoon was spent making our selves familiar with our surroundings and ensuring that we knew our way back to our rooms once the evening's activities would be over.

For those of us not taking part in the bridge sessions, there was indoor bowls on a good fast green, though some were quite happy to sit around the bar talking and meeting other guests or taking in the entertainment provided by the Manor House.

Manor House HotelThe bowling during the daytime was very well attended with competitions everyday and golfers being taken to the Ashbury Hotel to play golf. Some ladies even decided to use the facilities of the hotel to improve our looks by indulging in a little beauty theraphy.

On the last evening, of our very enjoyable stay, and after the bridge, we all met up in the bridge room for the presentation of prizes for all of the 3 activities. Not only did the wine flow freely but conversation also and we finally said goodnight around midnight with agreement all round that it had been a thoroughly enjoyable four day break and hoping that we would all meet up again soon.
