BOGNOR REGIS BOWLS CLUB

President of Bognor Regis Bowls Club Alma HarrisonCongratulations to Gladys Hillier one of our Life Members who celebrated her 96th birthday on 2nd July. Well done Gladys.

Bill Dibley is under going chemotherapy at the moment, we all wish him well. Geoff Holland is progressing, wishing both him and his wife well.

All the club competitions are progressing well, some exciting games have taken place so far. It is the responsibility of the ‘challenger’ (top name/names) on sheet to book the date and rink with the steward, to obtain a marker (where appropriate) and to arrive early to dress the green for the start time agreed.

The men’s section have had some very good league results. At present they are top of the second division with Sixty points scored.

The ladies team have had some very good league results, they are holding their own at the moment with a total of twenty six points.

The club members and friends travelled by coach to our usual enjoyable visit to Croydon. Stopping for lunch on the way. They paid us a return visit at Waterloo Square which was equally enjoyable. Bognor came out the victors on this occasion.

There have been many ‘mixed’ friendly matches with other clubs which are always very enjoyable.

We, as a club, thank all those who, with hard work make all this possible. Thank you to our very able Vice President Terry Rexstrew for his untiring work for all of us.

I understand that there are Members who are upset when they are not ’picked’ for matches. When there are many names down to play a match, everyone do have to be given a chance to play. There is a register kept of all the matches played and those who have taken part. This can always be checked upon to see if you have been unfairly treated. In any sport there do have to be reserves. So in the spirit of the game, please accept the Captains decision.

GOOD BOWLING TO YOU ALL

PRESIDENT ALMA
