Paul Whittle Trophy
THE PAUL WHITTLE TROPHY-MIXED TRIPLES
The weather was overcast and a little chilly for this first Trophy competition to remember one of Bognors favourite players. Paul loved his Monday and Friday triples game so it is with this format that we remember his good humour and spirit of fun and fairplay. Thirty players contested this day by playing 3 matches per team of 3 against different opposition at 6 ends per game, thus the equivalent of a full triples game.
The afternoon was played in good heart and cheer but was well contested. However only one team won all 3 of their games at 2 points per win to claim the full six points and victory. This was the deadly combination of Colin Dale, Mary Ray and David Jackson who were well deserved winners. Three other outfits managed 4 points apiece and the rest between 1 and 3 points. The trophy will be presented on finals night..
Many thanks to Peter and Val Lillford for organising the event which we hope will be the first of many and to Paul's son for presenting the trophy to the club.
