Bognor Regis Bowls Club 2010 Season
At last the beginning of the 2010 outdoor season is here, and what a great weekend it has proved to be. 10am sharp on Saturday 24th saw the eager beavers on the green ready and raring to go putting our first woods on the green. To shouts of "it's heavy!, narrow, but playing well!" The sun shone, the wind was light, and two hours sped by. Our arms ached, our laughter was infectious and we all left looking forward to our first match in the afternoon which traditionally is the President -V- Captains.
We were honoured to have the services of the Deputy Mayor bowling the first wood and officially opening our 2010 Bowling season.
On Thursday 29th April we have Bognor Ladies -V - Bognor Men, always a hotly contested match with Ollie's cafe becoming a very noisy tea break venue where match tactics are discussed, mulled over, and blame apportioned or praise given out.
We are lucky to have a very varied season ahead of us with all our usual friendly matches against local clubs, Ladies C&M League, Men's Littlehampton Gazette League, the new fixture (for Bognor) BML Mixed Triples and we are in the happy position of having visiting touring clubs wanting to play friendly matches against us. Some of these touring club matches will be played in conjunction with RAFA. When these match sheets are on the board please do your utmost to support the club and extend the hand of friendship and ensure that rinks are full.
We have a special match being played at Waterloo Square on Sunday May 9th at 10.30 am when Sussex Under 25's play against The Isle of Wight under 25's. Surely a game worth making time for and watching. Here's hopping the sun shines all day for them.
