BOGNOR ARE CHAMPIONS ONCE AGAIN
Hi everyone, hope you are all enjoying this excellent bowling weather, what a treat not have worn our wets yet, at least not down here in the South where we have been able to enjoy back to back sunshine and so far the greens are still green!
Our Bognor men are still faring well in the Littlehampton Gazette League and although its early in the season we feel that we will be able to cope very well with the opposition in the weeks ahead.

Once again this year R.A.F.A.381 Bowling section entered a Ladies Triple Team into Stedham's Open Ladies Invitation Day held on Sunday 6th June where we were once again offered the most welcoming hospitality arriving at 9.30am to find tea,coffee and biscuits waiting for us, and after a mornings play made our way to the social club where Stedham men had laid on a great cold spread for our lunch followed by delicous desserts and if needed, and who doesn't, a drink from the bar!!. There followed a good afternoons play with once again tea and cakes laid on, (as if they were required) and we got to the final only to be beaten by 2 shots on the last end by Petersfield Ladies. Well done Petersfield but we will be back next year.
We would like to bring to your attention a new Competition called the "Waterloo Cup" which is being organised by Keith Hellyer of Hotham Bowls Club, to be held at Waterloo Square. All members of clubs at waterloo square can enter, you make your own arrangements for playing through Keith so if you are looking for something different here is your opportunity.
Mercian Bridge and Bowling Holidays have informed us that we will be at the Riu Bellvue Hotel in Tunisia starting the 17th October, Mellieha Bay Hotel in Malta 30th October and the Sol Don Pablo, Torremolinos, Spain 3rd January 2011. Bognor Men will be looking forward to continuing their success after winning the 2nd division of the Littlehampton Gazette League, Bognor have also this year entered the BML league so a new hurdle has to be faced and overcome.
Bognor Ladies would welcome new members, novices, or seasoned players to join them and free coaching will be available for men and women, throughout the season. Notices to inform when coaching will be commencing will be posted on the notice board at Waterloo Square at the start of the season.
Bognor Ladies will be competing in the C & M League and also in the new BML League which is a mixed league, in the coming season.
R.A.F.A. will be holding their fair share of matches at Waterloo Square including the Open ' Jim Lorimer Wing's Appeal ' Day with proceeds going to the RAFA Club towards their fund raising throughout the year which also encompasses street collections and collections held at Goodwood Races. This is a great way of helping our armed forces with their fight against disability and rehabilitation.
R.A.F.A. will also have their Mazda Sponsored Open Day when clubs from all over the area enter teams as well as individuals making up teams to compete on the day. They are ably assisted by Rosie and her staff in the kitchen making sure all competitors are well fed and the bar staff of the R.A.F.A. Club who keep everyone well lubricated.
R.A.F.A. are also involved in the Mixed BML League which in the main, as with Bognor, will be played two rinks league and two rinks friendly.
Hotham Bowling Club will also be involved at Waterloo Square and we have been informed of a new Open Competition that they are hoping to start involving the three clubs. We will update you when we have all the details.
Players at Waterloo Square can certainly look forward to a very varied season in 2010 with inter club competitions, friendly matches, Open Days and League Games. If you are looking forward to a healthy, friendly, and welcoming group look no further than Waterloo Square. Come and join us.
